Putnam County Spelling Bee

Last night I attended a performance of the "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" at the Wadsworth Theatre in LA. I never had the chance to see it when I lived in New York, so it was a lot of fun. The show itself is really funny and they pick 4 people for audience participation before each show.
This one little boy that they picked was such a good speller that he got a really hard word right that he was supposed to miss so they finally had to give him an impossible word to get him off the stage!
If you ever have the chance to go see it, do!

Today I have a meeting with Howard Meltzer, the casting director of Hannah Montana (Disney Channel). He happens to be on the board of the conservatory I attended and I think it should go really well. Wish me luck:)

PARIS HILTON

1/3 of the evening news last night was discussing Paris Hilton. Since she only served 3 days of her 45 day sentence before being relocated home for house arrest, I was just wondering what my readers think of this matter.

Leave me comments with your thoughts.

STANDARD

I totally felt like Lindsay Lohan (minus the drugs alcohol and rehab) last night! I went with a friend of mine to a magazine issue release party. It was held at the roof top bar at the Standard Hotel downtown LA.

I got all dressed up in clothes from Black House/White Market, curled my hair, put on lots of make-up and accessorized with a Dooney & Bourke handbag that was a gift. My friend picked me up in his brand new BMW, black of course, and off we went.

The pictures don't do it justice but it was beautiful. You could see the whole city and there was a pool on the roof! There were also these cool plastic enclosed couches that looked like read Hershey Kisses.

The party was really cool. We were on the guest list and there were TONS of people there. The DJ was great and I got the issue of Beautiful/Decay that they were releasing for free.

Hooray for being young in Hollywood and going out until 2 AM on a Tuesday!:)

Writing Class

Last night at my screen writing class we discussed the first draft of an independent short that I wrote. I got a lot of good feed back and I may expand it into either a feature film or a script for theater. It's really cool because I've always wanted to write a play, and I wrote a good chunk of a solid first act without even meaning to! :) I also got some really good feedback on a picture book that I wrote! If anyone knows a publisher looking for a picture book, PLEASE e-mail me at jaclyn@jaclynfriedlander.com

In other news, people have been camped out on Fairfax since Saturday to see the taping of the last Price is Right, which shoots on Wednesday.

Response

Anonymous said: I saw "your" commercial on TBS the other night. Looks like you won the cart race too. How long did it take to film it?

It takes 2 days to shoot a 30 second commercial. Actually, all of the scenes in the mega mart were shot between 7:30PM and 7:30AM. That's right, we were running around smiling and jumping in and out of carts over and over at like 4AM!

The hair-cut, cab exit and a bit that I did in a jeans shop were shot the day before we went to the mega mart. The total time I was on set was 23 hours between the two days (11.5 hours per day)

It was tons of fun to shoot and I made a lot of friends. In case you didn't get a chance to look at the album I posted a few weeks ago, this is me, Paloma, Abby, and Joe (my cart pusher) at 3:00AM on "lunch" in one of the trailers.:)
