Palm Tree...

Los Angeles windstorm + dead palm tree = bad news for me.

A palm tree that was in pretty bad shape to begin with became dis-membered from it's trunk and landed on my car. Fortunately for me it only scraped up the whole side of my car and loosened the hubcaps. If it had fallen directly on top, my car might have been totaled!

So here's what I learned about palm trees. They may look fun and inviting since they are associated with tropical locations but THEY ARE NOT! Up close they are very heavy and KILLER! Their leaves are quite prickly, worse than rose thorns. I went out and moved the leaves away from my car in sandals and took a branch to the foot.

I called the city clean up people to try to get it off the sidewalk so that other people would not experience my same pain, and they said that high winds have caused many similar accidents and they are going to be a few days behind in clean up.

The pictures:
Observe a normal palm tree, then the naked palm tree and the top of the tree that landed on my car!

MONK

I went to visit the set of "Monk" and it was great! Monk is filmed at the Paramount Studios in Hollywood. The man who plays the title character, Tony Shalhoub is super nice! They were shooting a scene in the shrink's office, which is just a half room built inside the warehouse sound stage.

I went to visit two of my friends who were in charge of props on "The Riches," and when I got there I recognized several other crew members who had worked on "The Riches" and the pilot of the show when it was called "Low Life".

It was fun seeing old familiar faces and it just shows how work breeds work and when people like who they are working with, they make a point to work with them again!

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!

Good News!

My friend Deborah, who I featured in the MCTV page and on my blog a few months ago as a writer/actress/personal chief just optioned her 3rd screenplay!

Optioned means that she sold it to a production company who now has the option to produce it and find distribution for it within the allotted amount of time. If they choose not to produce it by the end of the 6 month option, she can then go with another company or they can option it again, for more money! Hopefully this company will produce it because she said that they want it to be a collaborative effort and she will be involved, rather than them just buying the sceenplay and then chaning it however they want to.

CONGRATS DEBORAH!

Wrap Party

The wrap party for season 1 of "The Riches" was a blast! It was at a nice restaurant called "The Spanish Kitchen". It was open bar and there were all kinds of delicious snacks.

It was interesting that after working on the show since the pilot there were a lot of people at the party who I had never seen before who have various jobs such as casting and people from the network.

After the party I headed to the Kabitz room to hear a friend of mine sing and she is fabulous. It was a great night!
