My comments on fake elevators

One time when I was at the New Yorker Hotel I was in an elevator that dropped 7 stories. We were staying on the 18th floor, the elevator got up to 11, the lights went out and then the elevator car I was standing in plummeted Tower of Terror style and the doors opened on the 4th floor! I got out and walked up to the 18th and I have had a slight fear of elevators ever since.

Now working in Hollywood I have been "trapped" in two fake elevators, one on the set of CSI: Miami and one on the set of The Riches. The fake ones are just as bad as real ones.

Standing on the studio floor looking at the buttons and the sliding doors, it is really freaky to look up and see the raptors of the set. When you stare straight ahead you feel confined to an elevator and when you look up there is the panic of "where is this elevator's cable?" Also, you can push the 'door open' button and then stand for hours waiting for the doors to open but unless one of the grips is near the control button, the doors don't open. The buttons just glow but dont actually function.

In Hollywood there is a very weird line that separates fact from fiction and the real from the imaginary.
