RESPONSE

January 9th I posted a blog about screen writing. An anonymous comment was left that said, "WRITING A SCRIPT SOUNDS EXCITING. HOW DO YOU GET STARTED. AFTER IT IS WRITTEN, WHAT COME NEXT?

To answer that, I started writing when I was young. I've always kept several journals and a notebook that I write poetry in.

I was on a television show called "The KidsNews Network" as a reporter when I was younger and I had to find and write my own news reports. When I moved to LA I was inspired to write screen plays and so I began taking John Herman Shaner's class.

Writing is mostly rewriting and after a screenplay is finished it is a process to try and sell it. In Los Angeles there is the possibility to sell the script outright to a production company or they can option it which means they pay you money so that they are the only ones who have the option to buy it for more money at the end of the option period.

It is also possible to find a financial investor, hire a crew and actors and shoot it under a SAG contract yourself and then submit it to festivals or try to get a distribution deal.
